Trump Gives Putin Ultimatum: Sign Peace Agreement or Heavy Sanctions Await!

On January 22. The President of the United States, Donald Trump, issued an official statement on TRUTH, urging Russian President, Vladimir Putin, to immediately sign an agreement that could end the ongoing military conflict. This statement comes amidst rising global tensions and the significant economic impact of the war involving Russia and Ukraine.

In his statement, Trump said: “I don't want to hurt Russia. I love the Russian people and my relationship with President Putin has always been good. I still want to help Russia and President Putin in a big way. The Russian economy is declining, stop this senseless war now or the situation will only get worse.”

Trump insisted that efforts to achieve peace were a top priority, adding: “If an agreement is not reached soon, I will have no choice but to impose high tariffs, duties and sanctions on Russia for every item sold to the US and other countries involved. Let's end this war now. It's time to reach an agreement, there should be no more loss of life.”

According to a report from Fox News, Trump also stated that the United States is considering continuing to send weapons to Ukraine. Further support for Ukraine will depend largely on constructive dialogue between Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as well as the willingness of both sides to reach a peace agreement. In addition, Trump asked Chinese President Xi Jinping to help resolve the conflict in Ukraine, which outside observers considered a direct threat and the first ultimatum Trump had given Putin since taking office.

The economic steps taken by Trump are expected to not only burden Russia, but also CHINA :

On January 20, Trump told reporters that President Zelenskyy was eager to reach a peace deal, but Putin was still reluctant to compromise. Trump emphasized that if Russia continues to persist in this war, the country will face a major economic crisis that could destroy the Russian economy.

Responding to Trump's statement, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said on January 22 that Moscow could not yet assess the negotiating capabilities of the new US government. However, compared to the Biden administration which is considered hopeless, the Russian government sees an opportunity to reach an agreement with the new government in the United States.

Meanwhile, according to a report from Voice of America on January 21, President Zelenskyy stated that if there was a ceasefire agreement with Russia, it would be necessary to deploy at least 200,000 European peacekeepers in Ukraine to protect the country from further attacks.

Zelenskyy stressed that Russia has mobilized around 600,000 troops in Ukraine, with the potential to reach 1.5 million, a number that far exceeds the military strength of any European country.

He added that Europe should be alert as the war was approaching Russia's central region and balked at Russia's demand to reduce Ukrainian troop levels from 800,000 to 1%, which he considered unacceptable.

On January 22, Bloomberg reported that Zelenskyy also asked President Trump to send United States troops to Ukraine to ensure peace. Zelenskyy argued that although some European allies consideredtheir troop deployment sufficient, the presence of US troops was necessary to provide confidence that no one would dare take risks without the support of the United States. In addition, Zelenskyy expressed concern about possible attempts to divide the European Union and the United States.

The question that arises now is whether President Trump will consider this request and place US troops in Ukraine. The public and international observers are also waiting for further decisions from the Trump administration regarding this increasingly complex situation.

On the battlefield, the situation continues to develop. Recently, Ukrainian forces successfully used drones to carry out long-range attacks on Russian military facilities, including destroying the Sukhoi Su-25 fighter aircraft factory in Smolensk, which was a major loss for Russia. However, the Russian troops at Kursk regrouped with an unprecedented number of troops. Russia deployed troops from three directions—east, north, and west—with a total of eight battalions, seven divisions, and more than 100,000 troops, aiming to break through the Kursk defense line and attack the major city of Sujya, which is the core of Ukraine's military defenses.

With these changing dynamics, the international world is watching how diplomatic and military steps will influence the fate of this long-standing conflict.
