A Chinese Writer's Analysis of The New York Times' Topic-Switching Tactics,

Sheng Xue, a Chinese writer and Global Vice Chair of the China Democratic Alliance, recently told the Epoch Times that The New York Times articles attacking Falun Gong and Shen Yun only reflect the prejudices of a few people. According to him, this indirectly strengthens the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) transnational repression and obscures attention to serious human rights violations against Falun Gong practitioners. Nevertheless, Sheng Xue believes that the CCP's efforts to discredit Falun Gong in a free society will not succeed.

What Happened In There?

“For more than 25 years, Falun Gong practitioners have been the most persecuted group in China. They have endured long-standing and brutal repression by the CCP's unrestrained and extremely cruel methods. "This should be a serious concern for many people," said Sheng Xue.

Sheng Xue added that the CCP has long carried out massive propaganda globally to influence the media, including inviting journalists, editors and media leaders to China by offering travel expenses, accommodation, tours and even gifts.

Sheng Xue, Chinese writer and Global Vice Chair of the China Democratic Alliance,

It was reported that New York Times publisher Arthur Sulzberger Jr. together with several editors and journalists visited Beijing in 2001, and they had the opportunity to meet the CCP leader at that time, Jiang Zemin.

Sheng Xue said, “Actually at that time, the CCP had a new major propaganda strategy targeting the entire world and global media. They use a lot of money to buy international media, even many Chinese language media have actually been bought, this is a fact that everyone knows.”

Regarding the way the CCP defames and attacks Falun Gong, Shen Yun, and the Epoch Times, Sheng Xue said that The New York Times is currently using public opinion warfare tactics, as if they have to achieve a certain goal. Sheng Xue said, “It's actually not surprising, and there's nothing particularly new, it's just that this latest wave seems more aggressive.”

Falun Gong : STOP Killed Practitioners In China!

“So now using public opinion tactics like this, probing from various angles, making insinuations, and using vague accusations, including against its leader, against the founder of Falun Gong, Master Li Hongzhi, I find this very familiar, because the CCP can be said to have always used methods like this against his enemies. They take advantage of freedom of speech, freedom of expression and media platforms in democratic countries, even including legal means. It seems like they really want to achieve a certain goal, but the CCP's goal is truly unattainable.”

Sheng Xue also highlighted that many people are now starting to question whether the mainstream media in the United States has become a tool of special interests, including through biased reporting and spreading inaccurate information.

“I would like to ask whether the New York Times has ever deeply investigated and reported on the CCP's actions, including the forced organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners? Otherwise, why would they choose to attack Falun Gong at this time?”

Hello Mr.President!

According to Sheng Xue, Falun Gong has received international support because of their courage in exposing the crimes of the CCP and the systematicity of their research on the dangers of communism.

Sheng Xue explained: “Falun Gong deeply and systematically exposed the repressive nature of the CCP, and this received support and respect from many people. This poses a serious threat to the CCP as more and more people no longer believe their propaganda.”

Sheng Xue also highlighted the importance of Shen Yun, which has shown the world the beauty of pre-CCP Chinese culture for the past 18 years.

What Did You Do, Mr.President?

“This is a big blow to the CCP because more and more people are realizing what China was really like before the CCP came to power.”

He called for more attention to the CCP's crimes of forced organ harvesting, which he said are still ongoing today. (Hui)
