Death Threats in Mandarin Target Falun Gong Practitioners and Lawmakers Who Support Them,

Campaigns Launched by the Chinese Communist Party Regime Escalated to a Higher Level in the Past Year.

Spiritual communities fleeing the persecution of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) face the latest threat in New York, United States. CCP operatives warned of bomb threats and other attacks targeting them and US lawmakers voiced support for them.

In a Chinese email published by the Falun Dafa Information Center (FDIC) on January 28, an anonymous sender claimed to have made “a large number of incendiary bombs” using alcohol and glass bottles.

The man threatened that on the first day of Chinese New Year, he would send people to attack Dragon Springs, a complex in upstate New York that houses a Tang Dynasty-style Buddhist temple, a Shen Yun Performing Arts practice site, and two religious arts schools. , Fei Tian College and Fei Tian Academy of the Arts.

The email also detailed plans to destroy the complex: the perpetrators would burn vehicles, throw petrol bombs at wooden buildings and attack anyone who got in the way. Additionally, he also threatened to “attack members of the US Congress who support Falun Gong.”

Founded by Falun Gong practitioners in Orange County, New York, Shen Yun has been a major target of the CCP since 2006, when the group began touring the world to showcase Chinese civilization before communist rule. Their production also includes scenes depicting the torture of Falun Gong practitioners in modern China, including forced organ harvesting. Currently, eight Shen Yun groups are touring and will visit approximately 200 cities around the world this year.

In an effort to block Shen Yun performances, Chinese diplomats have for years exerted economic and political pressure on democratically elected officials and theater operators around the world, often risking relations with China. Nevertheless, the campaign to stop Shen Yun appears to have increased drastically in the past year.

Since March 2024, the FDIC has documented 17 threatening emails against Shen Yun, many of which contain detailed descriptions of violence, including threats against performers and their families.

The FDIC also reports that suspicious individuals have attempted to approach the Dragon Springs entrance to take photos or bypass security in recent months.

Theaters hosting Shen Yun performances in the United States, Europe, Canada and Taiwan have received at least 14 other threats. Although such attacks have not yet occurred, these threats have led to increased investment in security and law enforcement resources.

The frequency of these threats has increased drastically since December 2024, with five threats since January 13 naming members of the US Congress as potential targets, according to the FDIC.

FDIC Executive Director Levi Browde said Chinese New Year, which falls on January 29 this year, is traditionally a time for family reunions. By choosing this day to sow fear, CCP agents demonstrate their evil intentions to destroy and silence Shen Yun and the Falun Gong community at large.

Based on what happened in the past year, Browde believes it almost certainly has direct ties to Beijing.

Last December, The Epoch Times learned that China's communist party leader, Xi Jinping, personally gave instructions in 2022 to top officials to suppress Falun Gong globally. Xi emphasized the use of Western mechanisms that have no direct links to Beijing, such as social media influencers and media outlets, to shape public opinion against the entities founded by Falun Gong.

CCP ( China Communizt Party ) Agents and Attempts to Sabotage Falun Gong,

US prosecutors recently exposed several attempts by Chinese agents to sabotage Falun Gong. One of the cases involved two men who tried to bribe agents of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) – the US federal agency that administers and enforces Tax laws – and manipulated the IRS Tax Reporter Program to revoke Shen Yun's tax-exempt status. Both have been charged in the conspiracy.

On social media platforms such as X and YouTube, posts have also appeared aimed at inciting hatred against Falun Gong.

Frances Hui, a Hong Kong activist who was hunted by the now communist-controlled city government for her pro-democracy activities, said that intimidation is one of the CCP's favorite tactics to silence critics.

The CCP continues to use threats and intimidation to create an effect of fear within every member of the community, Hui told The Epoch Times after attending a Hudson Institute panel discussion on US human rights policy on January 28.

“Those who are targeted will surrender. "They will stop fighting for the truth because they want to avoid the consequences they face," he said.

Human rights observers present at the event agreed that there must be consequences for Beijing-affiliated agents who have become increasingly adept at targeting dissidents.

“It is critical that we increase protections for dissidents here, as the CCP's tactics become increasingly violent and creative,” Anouk Wear, researcher and policy advisor at Hong Kong Watch, told The Epoch Times.

While Falun Gong practitioners in China still face the risk of death for defending their faith, the escalation against practitioners abroad and Shen Yun should be a wake-up call, Browde said.

With the CCP's deadly propaganda and violence against Falun Gong practitioners now extending to the United States and members of the US Congress who support them, he said, it is urgent for the US government to open a thorough counter-intelligence investigation to prosecute the perpetrators before tragedy strikes.

An email threatening an attack on Lunar New Year was traced to an IP address in France, but the perpetrator likely used a virtual private network (VPN) to hide his location, the FDIC said. They added that both the FDIC and Shen Yun have reported this incident to law enforcement and the Capitol Police (U.S. Capitol and Senate Police).
