Fisherman's Sad Story: There is no compensation agreement yet, fishermen in Kalibaru, North Jakarta are being held back,

Traditional fishermen in Sero Kali Baru, North Jakarta, experienced the destruction of their fishing equipment by PT TRPN workers, without being given any information and without a compensation agreement having been made.

Nur Salim, Sero Fisher Coordinator from KUB Bintang Sero, Kalibaru, said "We have gone through several stages to seek justice for the Sero fishermen who are currently being abused by a company. Previously we had met with the regional government in West Java but to no avail. "After that, we were asked to meet by a lawyer from the company in Kelapa Gading some time ago, instead we were offered a replacement deposit of IDR 100 million for all the holdings here," said Nur Salim in Kalibaru, North Jakarta. (12/10/24).

Nur Salim imitated the words of one of the three lawyers who met him in Kelapa Gading.

"Mr Salim, I have 100 million worth of money to replace the security equipment there, but I emphasize that I cannot make a decision with that kind of money because there are a lot of people here and I have to compromise with others, this is a subtle form of refusal with the amount he until that time, after that last Friday night he (the company) contacted our management "sir we will work tomorrow, and we answered "don't work first before we meet again following up on yesterday's discussion which has not resulted in a decision", Friday morning "We sent a letter to the company asking to meet with the director, but today they ordered us to work and damaged our fishing gear," he explained.

It was seen that at the location where the Sero fishermen gathered, there were 2 workers from the company who had been secured from the wrath of the fishermen.

"These 2 people were their workers who had damaged our fishing gear, we finally secured them, there was a commotion at the location because the fishermen did not accept that their fishing gear had been damaged with a beko, but this morning the fishing rod was still safe and after we returned to "The house, they destroyed the holding house, finally 2 workers were brought here to seek accountability from their boss who had ordered us to destroy our holding house," he said.

The reason was that Nur Salim had contacted the company or the superiors of the workers who had been detained but had not yet arrived until late evening.

"We have been calling the company to immediately come and take responsibility for this worker and for the security that has been damaged, but they haven't arrived yet, and we have entrusted the agreement that we made to this worker to the authorities so that his superiors will immediately be summoned to be held accountable. "answer us for the destruction of fishermen's fisheries," he concluded.

The little information found that PT TRPN assigned its workers without a work order, and without prior agreement, they have damaged the livelihoods of traditional fishing fishermen in Kalibaru, North Jakarta.
