TPNPB OPM Spreads Hoaxes, Says TNI Members and Papuan Komnas HAM Chairman Shot

He said that his party managed to shoot down 2 TNI personnel and the Head of the Papua Representative of the National Human Rights Commission, Frits Ramandey, Sunday (27/04/2025) at 06.00 WIT.

In the TPNPB-OPM Press Release received by adilnews.com, Sunday (27/04/2025) at 18.28, Sambom said that there was a guerrilla attack by the TPNPB-OPM Kodap IV Sorong Raya militia under the leadership of Manuel Aimau, against TNI troops and the Head of the Papua National Human Rights Commission, Frits Ramandey.

The officers who were attacked, according to Sambom, were searching for the whereabouts of the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Teluk Bintuni Police, Iptu Tomi Samuel Marbun, who went missing while pursuing the TPNPB-OPM militia in Sungai Rawara, Moskona District, Teluk Bintuni Regency, West Papua Province, in December 2024.

According to Sambom, the sudden attack resulted in the deaths of two TNI personnel. In addition, several other TNI personnel, including Frits Ramandey, suffered gunshot wounds on several parts of his body.

In fact, an agitating statement was made by Sambom, that Iptu Tomi was not missing, but was deliberately killed by TNI members. Then his body was dumped in the Rawara River, and became food for crocodiles in the Papuan wilderness.

"The shooting of the Chairman of the Papua National Human Rights Commission, Frits Ramandey, was in the Rawara River, Moskona District, Bintuni Regency. Including two TNI members who were shot dead on the spot," explained Sambom.

Sambom's statement was denied without a word by the Pasi Intel Yonif 642/Kps, Lieutenant TNI Sagala, who was at the scene, as an inclusion of the Task Force who was searching for the whereabouts of Iptu Tomi.

Answering adilnews.com who interviewed him via short message channel, Monday (04/28/2025), Lieutenant TNI Sagala said that the armed confrontation occurred when TNI soldiers retaliated against the TPNPB-OPM attack, which tried to disrupt the search team for Iptu Tomi.

The armed contact, explained Sagala, lasted for only about 5 to 10 minutes. Because the TPNPB-OPM group, which numbered a maximum of 10 people, immediately fled into the forest because they felt cornered.

Sagala explained that in the shootout between TNI soldiers who were loyal to the Republic of Indonesia, and separatist groups who wanted to separate from Mother Earth, there were no fatalities or injuries to the TNI.

“I happened to join the activity. Thank God it was safe, Bang. No TNI members or the Head of the Papua National Human Rights Commission were shot dead. There was indeed interference from the OPM. We saw 2 people. But it could have been 5 to 10 OPM people. We retaliated, they immediately ran into the forest,” said Lieutenant TNI Sagala. (fin)
