Hamas Surrenders! Submits End-of-War Proposal, Ready to Hand Over All Hostages

Hamas’s Gaza branch leader, Khalil Al-Hayya, recently stated that his organization hopes to reach a comprehensive agreement to end the war in Gaza. In the proposal, Hamas is willing to hand over all Israeli hostages in exchange for the release of Palestinians imprisoned in Israel. However, they reject the temporary ceasefire agreement proposed by Israel.

According to Reuters, in a televised speech, Al-Hayya said that Hamas is ready to immediately hold “full package negotiations” that include the release of all remaining hostages, in exchange for an end to the war in Gaza, the release of Palestinians from Israeli prisons, and the start of the reconstruction process in Gaza.

Al-Hayya stressed: “Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government are using part of the agreement as a cover for their political agenda. They continue to wage a war of genocide and starvation, even at the expense of all prisoners (hostages). We will not take part in such policies.”

In response to the statement, US National Security Council spokesman James Hewitt said: “Hamas’ statement shows that they do not care about peace, they only care about continuing violence. The Trump administration’s conditions remain unchanged: release the hostages, or prepare for hell.”

Palestinian and Egyptian sources said that in the latest round of talks held on Monday (14/4) in Cairo to discuss restoring the ceasefire and releasing Israeli hostages, no significant breakthroughs were achieved.

In the negotiations, Israel proposed a 45-day ceasefire in Gaza as a preliminary condition for the release of the hostages and the possible start of indirect negotiations to end the conflict. However, one of the conditions put forward by Israel—namely the disarmament of Hamas—has been flatly rejected. Al-Hayya called the Israeli conditions “unrealistic” and “impossible to fulfill.” (jhn/yn)
