Military Parade or End of Power? Zhang Youxia's Leaked Plan Shakes Beijing

A shocking claim has once again rocked Chinese politics. Former Chinese Navy officer Yao Cheng revealed that the country's military is allegedly counting down to launching a major operation to remove President Xi Jinping from power.

According to Yao, the plan is being directed directly by General Zhang Youxia, Vice Chairman of China's Central Military Commission and known as one of the most influential military figures. The target date for the operation is said to coincide with the September 3rd military parade, which Yao believes will be Xi's last public appearance before the operation begins.

Two Main Steps of the Operation

According to Yao Cheng's leaks, the strategy, known as "Plan Zhang," involved a massive military movement around Beijing:

Step One
Move the heavy brigades of the 82nd Division to the Changping area north of Beijing.
Move the 196th Brigade to Fengtai in the south.
Deploy additional troops in Gaobeidian, Shijiazhuang, and Handan to create a multi-pronged encirclement effect.
These moves were intended to psychologically pressure the center of power and cut off strategic routes in and out of the capital.

Step Two
Move the special forces of the 82nd Division to the Beidaihe area, a summer retreat for the Communist Party elite.
These troops would take over security functions traditionally performed by the Central Guard Bureau and the police, shifting control of security to the military.

Strategy to Catch Xi Jinping Off Guard

Yao Cheng emphasized that the military parade would still be held with Xi presiding personally from the podium. This was intended to:

Create a false sense of security for Xi, oblivious to the growing threat.

Reduce the potential for internal resistance, as Xi still believed he was in complete control.

Furthermore, Yao revealed plans to impose a state of emergency in the area within Beijing's Third Ring Road for two full weeks—much longer than the usual security procedures for parades, which only last a few days. This shutdown would restrict the movement of high-ranking officials and exert political pressure on them to make concessions to the military faction.

Political Motives and Risks

Political analyst Tang Jingyuan believes Zhang Youxia is at a point of no return.

“If Zhang fails to remove Xi, the future of himself and his entire military group will be ruined. The stakes are political life and death,” he said.

According to Tang, relations between Xi Jinping and some top military officials have long been strained. Xi is known for his sweeping purge of military corruption, but this move has also weakened the position of several senior generals, including Zhang Youxia, who are now suspected of seeking retaliation.

Reactions and Potential Impact

To date, the Chinese government has not officially commented on Yao Cheng's claims. However, the leak has already sparked widespread speculation among foreign analysts:

If this plan is actually implemented, China could face one of its biggest political crises since the reforms of Deng Xiaoping.

If it fails, it will unleash a larger wave of internal purges, consolidating Xi's power beyond all challenge.

Conclusion

With the September 3rd military parade just days away, the world's attention is now focused on Beijing to see whether this event will be a routine show of force or the starting point for the biggest political upheaval of the Xi Jinping era. (***)
